Stopping the Excessive Chewing Problem

Although English and American bulldogs are exceptionally good pets, the chewing and biting doesn’t always stop until the bulldog has completely matured, and sometimes it doesn’t even stop then. Bulldogs take a longer time to mature comparing to other breeds of dogs. If your bulldog is still chewing on your furniture, here are some tips to decrease the chewing:

1. Buy More Toys – The reason that your bulldog is chewing on everything might be because your dog doesn’t have enough toys. To prevent your bulldog from chewing on your wires and the newly bought carpet, perhaps buying a few additional toys could help prevent excessive chewing.

2. Reposition Possessions – Moving around some of your bulldog’s favorite things to chew on would help. Try to relocate or perhaps make it more difficult for your bulldog to reach certain more favorable chewing items.

3. Train to Chew on the Bone – Instead of punishing your bulldog for chewing on your furniture, you should train your bulldog to chew on stuff you approve of, and praise your bulldog when he or she successfully does that.
