Do Bulldogs Get Along With Cats?

Do English bulldogs get along with cats, or do they scratch and fight until one gives up? Do you have a cat, or several cats, and you’re thinking about getting a bulldog puppy.. Or perhaps you own a bulldog, but think about acquiring a cat. Of course, the first and most important question that comes to mind is, do bulldogs and cats get along together if they’re going to live in the same house?

By nature, bulldogs may appear as aggressive and fierce dogs, but in reality, it’s all show and no go. Bulldogs may often show signs of aggression, but will almost never act upon it. So what happens when you put a bulldog and a cat together?

Well for starters, let’s assume that the English bulldog is in a healthy mental condition, along with the cat. If they had history of fighting with their own species then it’s quite possible that they could stir some problems around the house, so make sure you find out that your dogs had no previous history of causing trouble. If your cat isn’t very aggressive and tends to be calm, there’s no reason why your bulldog would try to cause any harm.

In fact, bulldogs are extremely friendly, and would most likely try to play with the cats. If a bulldog is sniffing a cat, it’s totally okay, he’s just trying to be friendly. They might play games, chase each other, and it’s totally acceptable as long as no one’s hurting another.

Bottom line is, there is no reason why a cat and a bulldog wouldn’t get along. Unless it’s a rare exception, they will usually get along, be friendly, and even play games together.
